Red Flags Update

The recently release FTC semiannual regulatory agenda acknowledged that enforcement of the identity theft prevention Red Flags Rule for creditors is on hold until June 2010 but provided no further information on whether the commission will consider changing the rule prior.

Some sort of change to the Red Flags Rule is likely, given Congress and professional associations, representing lawyers, doctors, and accountants, pressuring the FTC to reconsider the rule’s scope.
