Submit Your Bankruptcy Form Suggestions By Feb. 15
David Goch, Washington Legislative Counsel | January 15, 2013
The Judicial Conference Committee on Rules and Practice and Procedure has asked for public comment on the modernization of official bankruptcy forms.
The revisions include changes to the following nine forms: 3A, 3B, 6I, 6J, 22A-1, 22A-2, 22B, 22C-1, and 22C-2. The changes to the forms were published on Aug. 15, 2012; the comment period ends Feb. 15.
Comments may be submitted electronically to Rules_Comments@ao.uscourts.gov or to the Committee on Rules of Practice and Procedure, Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts, One Columbus Circle NE, Washington, D.C. 20544.
The comments received will help to fine-tune the forms, and the revisions will make the forms more user-friendly and less error-prone. According to the AOUSC, the revised forms will have clearer instructions that explain the process, with prompts, checklists and separate, more extensive instruction sheets.
