Gov. Crist (FL) Reappoints CLLA member Gilbert Singer
to Florida Commission on Human Relations
Gov. Charlie Crist reappointed Gilbert M. Singer, a Tampa lawyer, as a
Commissioner ofthe Florida Commission on Human Relations (FCHR).
At the December 28, 2007meeting, Mr. Singer was elected Vice Chair
of the Commission. Singer previously served a four-year term under
Gov. Jeb Bush and was a key player in the Commission?s
strive to promote mutual respect among all people within communities
and businesses. The Commission on Human Relations is charged with enforcing
the Florida Civil Rights Act and Fair Housing Act. The Florida Legislature
has declared that the purpose of these laws is to protect the people of Florida
from discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age,
disability, marital or familial status.
