Todd E. Houslanger is a senior member of the New York Law Firm, Houslanger & Associates, PLLC. He is a graduate of the State University of New York at Stony Brook (BS Biochemistry 1983) and earned his Juris Doctor from Touro Law School (1988), where he served as Editor in Chief of the Journal of the Suffolk Academy of Law.
Mr. Houslanger is admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of the United States, New York, Connecticut and District of Columbia Bars as well as all NY Federal District Courts, the United States Courts of Appeals for the Second Circuit, the United States Court of Military Appeals and the United States Court of International Trade.
Todd Houslanger is the President of the Consumer Credit Association of Metropolitan New York (CCA), a not for profit NY corporation created to share common interests, ideas and information relevant to the ever changing credit and collection industry; their members consist of industry leaders and experts including merchants, law firms, credit grantors, credit bureaus, collection agencies, process servers and collection attorneys. Todd Houslanger was elected to the Board of Directors of the New York State Creditors Bar Association (NYSCBA), formerly the Commercial Lawyers Conference Collection Bar (CLC). He formerly served as Chairman of the Creditor’s Rights Law Committee of the Suffolk County Bar Association from 2000 through 2003 and is an active member of the American Collectors Association (ACA), a member of the Federal Legislative Committee of the National Creditors Bar Association (NCBA) formerly the National Association of Retail Collection Attorneys (NARCA) and a member of the Commercial Law League of America (CLLA). He is a Past President of the Huntington Lawyers Club (HLC) and a Barrister of the Alexander Hamilton American Inn of Court. Todd served as a member of the Board of trustees of the Huntington Jewish Center from 2013 to 2019.

Todd Houslanger was a speaker at the May 2018 program entitled Enforcement of Money Judgments and Related Issues in Civil Court held at the NY County Civil Courthouse, 111 Centre Street where attendance was predominantly Confidential Judicial Law Clerks sponsored by the NY County Lawyers Association and the Women’s Bar Association of the City of NY; the December 2016 National Business Institute (NBI) seminar entitled FDCPA and Collection Law in regard to Ethics; the December 2016 meeting of the Small Size Regional Managing Partners of Accounting Firms regarding Collections and Accounts Receivable; the May 2016 Nassau County Bar Association Academy of Law presentation entitled Collection of Legal fees – You’ve Earned It, Now Go and Get It; the Fall 2011 Suffolk County Bar Association presentation to its’ members entitled Getting Paid; the 2011 spring conference of the National Association of Retail Collection Attorneys on Ethics; and the Rotary Club. Todd was the Chair of the Economic Impact Panel of NARCA’s Legal Symposium on Consumer Debt Collection which presented a scholarly discourse on Legal Collections – The Essential Link to a Successful Credit Based Economy on October 15, 2014 at the George Washington Law School in Washington DC.
Mr. Houslanger was initially appointed on April 27, 2004 by A. Gail Prudenti, then Presiding Justice of The Appellate Division, Second Department, and currently serves as a Court Examiner pursuant to Article 81 of the Mental Hygiene Law. Throughout the County of Nassau, Mr. Houslanger is empowered and responsible to oversee and determine the condition and care of the incapacitated person, the finances of that person, and the manner in which the appointed guardians therein have carried out their duties.
Todd Houslanger is one of a small handful of New York attorneys that specialize in Parole revocation and defense. Gaining unique experience from his employment at the Legal Aid Society of Nassau County, NY, since 1988, Mr. Houslanger is sought after by Criminal practitioners for his expertise in this esoteric area of quasi-criminal and administrative law.
